What type of parquet adhesive should I choose?

There are various types of parquet adhesive of which the 1-component polymer adhesives and
the 2-component (epoxy-) polyurethane adhesives  can be used for most applications because of their versatility.

The choice of adhesive depends, among other things, on the nature and flatness of the substrate,
the properties and dimensions of the floor elements, the moisture sensitivity of the wood,
the presence of underfloor heating, the compatibility with the substrate and any
primers, the processing characteristics...

Rigid or flexible adhesives

Rigid adhesives are recommended when one wishes to counteract the movements of the wood. Because of their strong adhesion and low elongation, these adhesives will put more strain on the substrate. This type of adhesive therefore requires a substrate with high cohesive strength. If not, the transferred stresses may cause the substrate to break.

Flexible adhesives, thanks to their elastic nature, can compensate for the movements of the wood and then return to their original shape.
