How do I correctly apply PVC adhesive?
What do I use PVC adhesive for?
PVC adhesive is used for bonding rigid PVC pipes, fittings and accessories. It provides a strong, watertight connection that is resistant to pressure. At DL Chemicals, we develop PVC adhesives specifically tailored to professional applications, ensuring a durable and safe installation.
How do I correctly apply PVC adhesive?
Preparation
- The substrate must be solid, even, dry, clean, and free of dust and grease.
- If necessary, degrease with Parasilico Cleaner.
Application
- Apply the adhesive quickly and evenly in a longitudinal direction to both parts to be joined (thick layer on the pipe end, thin layer on the socket) using the brush.
- Join the parts immediately without twisting.
- Remove excess adhesive immediately.
- Do not load the joint during the first 10 minutes.
- On cold days, the adhesive should be as close as possible to the temperature of the pipe to be bonded, to prevent condensation in the applied adhesive. If necessary, bring the surfaces to be bonded to the correct temperature.
- Close the packaging properly immediately after use.
Cleaning
Clean uncured product with Parasilico Cleaner, PVC Cleaner Strong or with Cleaning Wipes.
How long does it take for PVC adhesive to cure?
The drying and curing time depends on the diameter of the pipe, the pressure, the amount of adhesive and the ambient temperature. This can vary from 1 hour to 16 hours.
Always consult the technical data sheet of the adhesive for more information.
