What is the lifespan/durability of my product?

All DL Chemicals cartridges, foils, spray cans and buckets carry an expiry date preceded by the letters ‘EXP’.

All products in the Rexon range carry a production date, preceded by the letters ‘PROD’.

The expiry date we give is the date if the product remains unopened. Once the packaging has been opened, various factors can affect the shelf life after opening.

Unopened products can be used for up to 9, 12, 15, 18 or 21 months after production date if stored in a dry and cool place at an ambient temperature of +5°C and +25°C.

To verify the exact shelf life of your product, consult the product's technical data sheet, found on the relevant product page on this website.

How long can I store an opened cartridge?

Silicone and hybrid sealants cure at a rate of 2 to 3 mm during the first 24h due to direct contact with air humidity and slows down afterwards. So a good shielding of the open cartridge with the air can already help.

After a few days or weeks, usually only the upper part of the nozzle is cured and can then be removed with a knife. If this is not possible but the product in the tube is still liquid, you can continue working with a new nozzle.

Can I store an opened canister of PU foam for a long time?

After using a pipette foam canister, you can simply fold over the pipette and push it onto the locking piece designed for this purpose. This prevents the remaining foam from coming into contact with the air. This method allows you to still use the remaining foam a few days or weeks later.

If the canister of gun foam is not empty, leave the gun on the canister. Tighten the set screw properly. Do not spray the gun empty! Put away with the canister in an upright position (gun on top). Repurposing the gun: Shake the can well (hold the gun firmly), carefully remove cured PU foam at the front of the nozzle with a sharp knife. Loosen the adjusting screw slightly and spray immediately, until the gun sprays PU foam properly again. The gun is now ready for use.

2K PU foam will react and cure in the can itself after mixing the 2 components, it should be used within 20 min.

My product has expired, can I still use it?

Products after expiry date will generally be harder to come out of the cartridge and require more time to dry out. We can then no longer guarantee specified properties.

So we always recommend using the products before the specified expiry date.
